New Concept Pitch: International Ideas, Local Impact

As part of INAF 2025, we are thrilled to introduce a brand-new Concept Pitch event, offering a unique opportunity to discover fresh, tour-ready ideas in the field of performing arts for young audiences.

Six innovative artists and companies – two from Norway and four from other European countries – will present their creative concepts. This is a chance for Norwegian performing arts professionals to meet potential international collaborators, explore new touring formats, and engage in dialogue about future partnerships.

The event is open to everyone, but please note that seating is limited.

🗓 Before the Pitch: Panel on Sustainable Touring

Before the pitch, join us for a thought-provoking panel discussion on “Concept Export and Import as the New Sustainable Touring Future.”
Here, we will hear from:

  • Tigerstadsteatret and Teater Leikhus, sharing their experiences with concept import/export,

  • Marit Grimstad Eggen from Kulturdirektoratet, offering a policy perspective,

  • and Aud Kristine Horseng from Nordland DKS, highlighting regional viewpoints.

🥂 After the Pitch: Network and Celebrate

After the concept pitch, stick around for our International Mingle – a relaxed space for networking and conversation across borders. End the evening with a K.I.S.S of inspiration at Don Gnu’s performance at 19:00.

More about Concept Export/Import:

We understand that this new and fancy concept of Concept Pitching can be a little hard to grasp, but we believe that this is the new step of making performing arts even more accessible!

Pitching your concept means that you’re essentially pitching the finished performance - or as we like to call it, the concept - without the actors, scenography and technical team that you used in the production.

When you pitch the concept you pitch the essence and the spine of the finished product with the artistic team that created it. All the nerves and muscles will then be provided by the venues interested to give rise to a new kind of person - pardon the analogy.

Because there are many natural barriers to exporting performing arts that use language internationally this is a great way to bypass that hurdle. The programmer who picks up the concept bring the artistic team to their venue, provide a local team of actors and the artistic team then produces the show with this local touch and within their context.

We believe that this is both beneficial to the exporter and importer as it gives an opportunity for that local touch and a deeper exchange. It’s also environmentally and economically conscious in terms of shipping a whole production abroad.

The modern performing arts don’t work as strictly with a script, but rather devise and develop performances - a concept. This is an opportunity to bring that performance to life in new exciting locations!
